What Is a WordPress Blog?

 
Creating an online business has become much easier because of the availability of a wordpress blog. Blogs have evolved over the years.   They started more or less as a on line diary or a way of keeping family and friends informed of the latest news. They more or less replaced letter writing of a generation ago. Blogs are fantastic even when they are used in this limited way. Think about it for a moment. An online blog means no postage and no writing multiple letters to multiple people. Not only can you share all the news with words, you also can ad pictures and video. The only thing your recipients need is a computer and internet access.  Good for everyone except of course the post office.  WordPress is free to download and install.
 
Most of the time when people are using their blogs for corresponding with friends and family they are not storing their blog on their own website.  A wordpress blog and blogger blogs can be used and stored on their servers.  This great for some user as they don’t have to purchase a domain and web hosting.  The downside to this is if google or wordpress finds something objectionable on your blog they can remove it.  If you have purchased your own domain with hosting it is yours.

A wordpress blog allows you can create a dazzling website without knowing coding or programming.  Just a couple of years ago I remember how frustrated I used to get trying to make a decent looking website using a html editor.  Believe me it was no fun and just having the slightest thing wrong could literally take hours to correct.  There were somethings that I just gave up on and called it close enough because I literally didn’t want to spent anymore time on it.

Wordpress can be installed fairly easily.  If you have a cpanel host most have an application such as fantastico or a similar utility which automates the install process.  Using fantastico all you have to do is fill in some blanks and wordpress will be installed for you.  If you don’t have this option then you can download the latest version of wordpress from their website located at http://wordpress.org.  Once you have downloaded it then all you need to do is transfer it to you website using a file transfer utility such as filezillia, which is also free to download and use.
 

 
After you have wordpress installed it comes with a pretty basic theme or design.  There are hundreds of themes you can get for free, so you can find a design that you will like.  There are also paid theme builders that you can use to make your theme unique and to your liking.  Two other great things about wordpress are plugins and widgets.  With both of those you can do just about anything easy as far customizing and adding functionality to your blog.
 
All in all I feel a wordpress can answer just about any need that you have for a website today to enable to to earn at home.  They can be set up to have a static home page and use pages instead of posts to more closely resemble a standard website.  A wordpress blog is very versatile and because of its popularity there is no shortage of information on them.
